The honor, integrity and values built by the game of golf closely mirror those embodied in our nation’s military credos. SMGA has witnessed numerous success stories on the rehabilitative benefits of golf and how it can improve the mental and physical condition of each wounded warrior returning from combat. In an effort to serve more wounded warriors, the SMGA is actively working to expand its programs across the United States. SMGA vows to continue to seek and build strong strategic alliances with those in the military, golf and private arenas to foster its vision of bringing the game of golf to as many of our nations post 9/11 war hero’s as possible.

Starting a new chapter location can be a very rewarding, yet challenging process. In order to pilot an SMGA chapter location, we have found that there are five key components that must be present prior to a Chapter being started.

  • After seeing what Bob Beach PGA and Patriot Award winner was doing for our veterans and its positive impact I knew what could be done in Boston through the SMGA. What has impacted me the most is seeing firsthand how much the veterans and their families have positively changed, both physically and mentally since starting the programs. The support from the entire New England area has been tremendous, and since we started, have served hundreds of local veterans and their families.
