The Fourth Annual SMGA Charity Golf Classic The Salute Military Golf Association (SMGA) held its fourth annual SMGA Charity Golf Classic on June 14, 2010, at Manor Country Club in Rockville, MD; this is the same course SMGA co-founders Jim Estes and Jamie Winslow learned to play the game of golf. For the fourth year in a row, the tournament was a sell out and raised tens of thousands of dollars to support combat-wounded American soldiers injured in the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. 159 players, including 15 SMGA veterans, heard Assistant Secretary Veteran's Affairs L. Tammy Duckworth deliver the dinner's keynote address, and witnessed the Club Corporation of America present SMGA board members with a check for more than $34,000. The SMGA board thanks all the participants, sponsors, and volunteers for making this year's event so successful. All net proceeds from the event have either gone or will go to the purchase of equipment, lessons, and golf course access for combat wounded veterans. The Third Annual SMGA Charity Golf Classic The Salute Military Golf Association held its third annual SMGA Charity Golf Classic on June 1, 2009, at Army Navy Country Club in Fairfax, VA. For the third year in a row, the tournament was a sell out and raised tens of thousands of dollars to support combat-wounded American soldiers injured in the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. 128 players, including 16 SMGA veterans, heard Lieutenant General James Thurman deliver the dinner's keynote address, and witnessed Major Ed Pulido, Executive Director, Folds of Honor Foundation, deliver college scholarships to the family of SMGA Participant Ramon Padilla (http://www.pgalinks.com/displays/printerfriendly.cfm?ctc=5558). The SMGA board thanks all the participants, sponsors, and volunteers for making this year's event so successful. The First Annual SMGA Charity Golf Classic. The SMGA held its
first annual Support Military Golf Classic on May 3,
2007, at Fort Belvoir Golf Club. This sold-out event
raised thousands of dollars to support combat-wounded
